Stamp-Collecting:
I started collecting stamps when I was little back in China.
Over the years, I have collected stamps from all over the
world. The stamps have taught me a lot about a country's
history, geography, politics, and economy; its great achievements
and its famous citizens; its fashions and its culture.
I
like to collect stamps
by theme, such as scenery
stamps, food
stamps,
city streets, etc. My favorite themes are mountains,
animals, flowers and litertature. The stamps
on the
right are samples
from my Chinese
stamps collection. They are
famous mountains
in China.

I collect animal stamps, especially the 12
animal stamps that were issued in China to celebrate each
Chinese New Year (rat, ox, tiger, hare, dragon, snake, horse,
sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig). The year 2003 is the
year of the sheep. The four animal stamps you see below were
issued in 1985, 1986, 1987 and 1988 respectively. A Scorpio
by the Western astrology, I am a Rat according to the Chinese
system, which divides all people into twelve different animal
signs. Your sign is said to govern the whole pattern of your
life. Born in a Dragon year, you will be noisy, healthy,
and popular. A pig year? You will crave purity and die rich.
Or perhaps you are a Cat: refined and cautious, your destiny
may be marked by a series of glowing successes. Here is me,
the Rat: charming, compassionate, sensual, loving, talented,
adaptable, open-minded, brilliant entrepreneurs.

China has produced many great writers,
whose works have contributed greatly to the world literature.
I have collected many stamp sets featuring the greatest
works and legends ever created by some of the most famous
Chinese writers. |
Food is one of my passions in life. I love
to eat out, but also love to cook at home. The other day,
I was checking stamp catalogs and happened to see food featured
on stamps issured by Taiwan and some other countries. Since
I love food so much, I decide to add this theme to my stamp
collection: Cusine from all around the world. Below is a
sample food stamps issued by Taiwan.
