Mark Aaron Polger

Mark Aaron Polger is an Instruction / Reference Librarian at the College of Staten Island Library, City University of New York. Polger works on the Reference Desk and provides research assistance to students, faculty, and staff of the College. He also participates in the Library Instruction program and provides a variety of tailored classes to support undergraduate and graduate students' research at the College.

Polger's research interests include library marketing and promotion in academic libraries. As well, he is interested in user experience studies, in particular library jargon on web sites. Polger's academic background is in Sociology and Education. In his classes, he aims to engage students through open dialogue and interaction, and through storytelling and humour. He is a "plain language" advocate and tries to avoid the use of library jargon whenever possible.
