Program Concentrations
for Sequence 1 Childhood

Students enrolled in the Sequence 1 Childhood Program select one of the following concentrations to distinguish their graduate career:

Learning and Development Concentration

The Concentration in Learning and Development is designed to give teachers a vision of how children learn, think, develop, and feel motivated. Understanding students' cognitive, emotional and social development empowers every teacher by providing conceptual tools for dealing with a wide range of situations in the classroom in a new way—more reflectively, critically, and effectively. This learning and development concentration offers an in-depth look into the exciting contemporary science of teaching and learning that challenges many traditional assumptions and enhances teachers' ability to help children develop their minds.
