New York State Certificates are issued only twice a year:
- February 1st
- September 1st
CSI graduation dates are:
- January 31st
- June 30th
- August 31st
Effective certificaiton dates are based on:
- application date,
- fee paid date, and
- graduation date.
Note that we recommend you pay by credit or debit card as these transactions are easier to track than those made by check or money order.
After your official graduation date, you should go to this page and request an official transcript (including the comments page) which will indicate the completion of the workshops. Mail the transcript to:
Office of Teaching Initiatives
89 Washington Avenue
Albany, New York 12234
Student will also need to provide verification of fingerprint clearance. If you have been cleared by the NYCDOE, you must submit an OSPRA 104 form to the city in order to authorize your clearance to be forwarded to the State.
All pertenant NYC Teacher Certification Exams have to be passed to obtain certification.
The “college recommendation” is an electronic endorsement entered in the NYSED web site. This recommendation cannot be electronically entered until your graduation date is posted on your transcript.
Please note: You must begin the certification process yourself: Institutes of higher education (like CSI) cannot do so on your behalf. You apply for certification through the NYSED TEACH system. You can only apply for certification in the area that has been endorsed on your transcript. You must monitor your account on the TEACH system.
