Risky Relationships

This workshop is designed to increase awareness about abusive relationships. You will learn how the different types of abuse are defined, how to recognize the patterns and behaviors that characterize abusive relationships and what you can do if you or someone you care about is experiencing abuse.

The Art of Relaxation

The workshop will focus on introducing students to several different relaxation techniques and discussing how relaxation can be vital part of one’s daily routine.  The workshop will explore what students do to relax on an everyday basis and whether it makes a difference in their lives.  The benefits of relaxation will be addressed.  Students will be taught breathing techniques and mindfulness exercises they can use at times of stress.


Managing Stress

Learn how to take control of your life and reduce your stress levels.  You will learn various methods of dealing with stress, what causes stress and what it can do to you.
 

Learning to be Assertive

Better your relationships and self-esteem by learning to express yourself more effectively.  Learning to be assertive can reduce anxiety in social situations, decrease the likelihood that you will be taken advantage of, and contributed to a general sense of well-being.  We will discuss the ABCs of assertiveness and apply them to common situations

The Counseling Center is pleased to announce its Online Resource Center for Probation Students. This website provides a variety of suggestions and resources for maximizing your academic experience. View on-line Academic Success videos, complete an on-line probation quiz, read about helpful strategies, or download a free planner. You can access it through the CUNY Portal by clicking on the Blackboard link.
