        it was rather better. I was very
        sick [and] vomited a great deal.
        At seven I felt very unwell [and]
        as I could not lye on the sofa
5      owing to the rolling of the vessel.
        I tumbled into bed with my
        clothes on. I lay for an hour
        [and] then put them off. Cunning-
        ham came to bed then, and
10    Crowe went to bed at nine.
        We were all very tired as
        none of us had slept the
        night previous. Well at
        ten o'clock a heavy sea struck
15    the ship ahead of the main
        rigging washing in the whole
        of the fore part of the Cabin
        [and] stateroom bulkheads,75 carrying
        away the wheel-chains76 < and blocks,
        and Dog House,77 one of the Life buoys >
20    and slightly starting the stern post,78 stove
        the long boat and carried
        away the poop rail < and ladder
        breaking one of the wheel spokes >
        as well as doing sundry slight damages.79
