We may not have such a fine house as we might have afterwards, but still Eliza it will not be so bad. 5 Sh[oul]d your parents go they will not leave before the spring and by that time I will have I expect seventy or eighty pounds saved towards the furnishings of our 10 house. Rae's furniture cost about seventy pounds, and his house is neatly furnished. [And] I would be always making more, so we could add now [and] 15 again many things wh[ic]h at first we did not absolutely want, but I hope your parents will not go to Australia, and then by staying separate for 20 a little longer we will be enabled to have a better house [and] a little over in case of “a rainy day.” I would like to have at least fifty [End of Page 37]
