has given her some cooling medicine [and] ordered the 'tween decks to be sprinkled with chloride of lime.36 Saturday 23rd When stripping for 5 bed last night I got very sick [and] vomited a good deal. Today I feel a little better, the ship still rolls but we have a nice breeze of wind and sailing at the rate of 10 eight knots an hour. There is a very heavy sea running however, I still lye on the sofa. I was on deck for an hour today but lay all the while. Oh Eliza, I would 15 give anything for a few raisons , or figs or if I had allowed you to bake a gingerbread cake for me. I have got lots of nice apples with me but as there is acid 20 in them I dare not to take them.37 Before you leave, think on any dainty you wo[ul]d like were sick [and] be sure to take it [End of Page 16]
