four in the morning when we rowed across to the Tail of the Bank10 and got on board of the “Augusta” wh[ic]h had arrived 5 there an hour previous. At nine o'clock we went to Greenock and visited the necrop- olis at the back of the Town{.} < I think the same that Mr. Brodie has got a cairn in.>11 And after having taken a walk 10 turned on board ship again{.} Donald Campbell, P. McCallum nor my brother came on board so I bid them goodbye and 15 came up by myself. I found Capt[ain] [and] Mrs. Crowe there. We shortly afterwards dined [and] Mrs. Crowe [and] the Capt[ain] went on shore. The Capt[ain] returned at four bring[ing] 20 a Rev[eren]d Mr. McKay and two others with him.12 The minister gave the folks an address and then distributed [End of Page 3]
