Marina Alexander

Biography / Academic Interests:

Marina Alexander (Conducting, Music History, Vocal Coaching) has been an Adjunct Assistant Professor at CSI for eight years, teaching Conducting and Music History and leading the CSI Chorus. An active performer, she conducts the Richmond Choral Society of Staten Island, The Arcadian Chorale in NJ, and the Metropolitan Greek Chorale in Manhattan. Noted for her scholarship and innovative programming, she has resurrected rarely heard masterpieces and created new translations for many works. Ms. Alexander made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2002, leading her ensembles in Dvorak's Te Deum, and has appeared as guest conductor with the Monmouth Symphony and the SI Philharmonic. She has participated in the annual Messiah Open Sing at Lincoln Center, and led Summer Sings for the NY Choral Society. She teaches conducting privately, and often appears as a clinician at choral workshops and music festivals.
