Jillian Baez's research and teaching interests lie in representations of difference and citizenship in media and popular culture, audience studies, media literacy, and globalization. She is currently revising her dissertation into a book manuscript on Latina audiences' engagement with the mediated Latina body in film, television and advertising. Dr. Baez is also developing a research project on the use of social media in the current immigration reform movement. She has presented at numerous conferences including the International Communication Association, National Communication Association, Latin American Studies Association, and Global Fusion: A Global Media and Communication Conference. Her research has been supported by the Ford Foundation, Social Science Research Council, and Tinker Foundation among others.
