Library Instruction @ CSILibrary Instruction Request Form (pdf) * Assessment InformationInformation Literacy @ CSI LILAC = Information Literacy at CUNY Learning Goals for CUNY Students The mission of the Library Instruction and Information Literacy Program is to ensure, in partnership with classroom faculty, that College of Staten Island students graduate as information literate members of our information society. Goals for Library Instruction:
FACULTY: To request a library instruction session for your class in the Spring semester, please call Prof. Robert Nelson (718.982.4016) or the Library Office (718.982.4001) in order to find an available time slot for the class. Then send a copy of our PDF-format request form to the Library. You may fax it to 718.982.4002, or you may leave the form at the Library Reference Desk. Instruction sessions can focus on developing information literacy skills such as: using the library catalog, developing search statements, searching for articles in academic databases, citing sources in various styles (MLA, APA, etc.). Classes can also be scheduled to prepare students to use the Blackboard course management system, "Turn-It-In" plagiarism prevention software, or some other special topic.
