Mission
The CSI Library supports the educational mission of the College of Staten Island and the research needs of its students, faculty, and staff by collecting, preserving, and providing access to scholarly materials in a variety of formats. Consistent with the teaching mission of the College, the Library assists students in becoming information competent, critical thinkers, and life-long learners. Toward this end, the Library provides quality information resources and research facilities which foster curriculum-based student-centered teaching and learning.
Collection
The CSI Library is committed to providing a balanced collection of select materials that support the College's instructional, curricular, and research goals. At present, the Library’s collection consists of approximately:- 235,000 books
- 5,000 e-books
- 800 print journal subscriptions
- 26,000 electronic journals
- 143 electronic resources
- 3,000 films and videos
- 5,000 sound recordings
The CSI Library also houses the Archaeology Study Collection for Ancient and Medieval Civilizations. On long-term loan from the Staten Island Museum, this collection contains several hundred artifacts documenting the ancient and medieval world including jewelry, pottery, and sculpture.
