Current Research:

My book, Scientists and Storytellers: Feminist Anthropologists and the Construction of the American Southwest, has been published by the University of New Mexico Press (2006). Click here to go the the UNM Press page about the book, and here to view a podcast interview about the book on CleverMedia's Book Stories series.

This month (October 2009), I am guest moderating a forum on the "Visual History of the American West" for the American Social History Project's Picturing U.S. History (PUSH) Project -- come join the conversation! Click here for my opening thoughts, and here for my main (first) essay and the Forum discussion.

My next book, White River, concerns the murder of Henrietta Schmerler, a Columbia University anthropology doctoral student murdered in Arizona in 1931.

I'm also working on reconstructing Tewa women's narratives from the 1910s and 1920s.
