History Department News
- The History Department Welcomes New Colleague
- The History Department welcomes its new colleague, Dr. Emmanual Mbah, to CSI. Dr. Mbah received his PhD in History in 2006 from The University of Texas at Arlington with a dissertation on "Land/Boundary Conflict in Africa: The Case of Former British Colonial Bamenda, Present-Day North-West Province of the Republic of Cameroon ca. 1916-1996." He will be teaching African history courses at CSI.
- The History Department Announces New Publication
- History Associate Professor Catherine Lavender's book, Scientists and Storytellers: Feminist Anthropologists and the Construction of the American Southwest, has been published by the University of New Mexico Press (2006). For more information about it, see the page here.
- The History Department Announces Fulbright Recipient
- History Assistant Professor Susan Smith-Peter has received a Fulbright Research Award for work in Moscow which she will undertake in 2007.
- The History Department Announces New Publication
- History Associate Professor Michael Foley's book, Dear Dr. Spock: Letters About the Vietnam War to America's Favorite Baby Doctor has been published by New York University Press (2005). For more information about it, see the page here.

Phi Alpha Theta
- The Department of History of the College of Staten Island of CUNY is currently in the process of establishing a CSI chapter of Phi Alpha Theta. Founded in 1921, Phi Alpha Theta is an International Honor Society which recognizes exemplary work by college and university history majors. Phi Alpha Theta is a professional society whose purpose it to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication, and the exchange of ideas among historians. Students who become members of Phi Alpha Theta have exhibited outstanding achievement in their academic careers. For more information about joining the CSI Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, contact faculty sponsor Professor Catherine Lavender ().
