International Business
International Business involves the process of leveraging the opportunities of global markets while rising to the challenges of global competitors. As the world grows more interconnected and commerce becomes increasingly interdependent, a thorough understanding of global business is essential for success in today's marketplace. International Business students will learn the concepts and skills required to understand and adapt to foreign economies, cultures, markets, and business practices in a way that leads superior performance.
The International Business Program is designed to fulfill the following objectives:
1. International Business Environment Insight
An international business graduate will be able to identify the critical differences between national political systems and cultures, demonstrate an understanding of global ethical/environmental issues and describe the impact of these forces on business situations.
2. International Business Method Knowledge
An international business graduate will exhibit an understanding of the theories of international business, and the roles of international systems and institutions and demonstrate the ability to apply this understanding to global business situations.
3. International Business Conceptual Analysis
An international business graduate will demonstrate an understanding of global considerations for the basic functions of marketing, management, finance, and accounting and will demonstrate the application of this knowledge to global strategic decision making.
4. International Business Quantitative Analysis
An international business graduate will understand the major sources of global business data, be able to evaluate the information for timeliness and relevance, and be able to use the methods of financial and statistical analysis applied within the discipline, and the processes for deriving insight and actionable conclusions.
5. Professionalism
An international business graduate will be able to think critically and creatively, communicate effectively orally and in writing, act in an ethical manner, and work effectively in a pluralistic group setting.
