Aphanitic Texture - fine grained igneous rock

What is the overall rock color? You can't see the individual minerals without the aid of a microscope. You have to rely on the overall rock color.

Light Colored - felsic composition     -  rock name is  rhyolite

Dark colored  - mafic composition     - rock name  is basalt

Intermediate -  between dark and light  - rock name is andesite
