Admission to this program requires a passing score on the Workforce Development Admissions Test. Please call 718.982.2182 for information or an appointment.
The Skills, Tasks, and Results Training Program, (S.T.A.R.T.), developed by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute, is a curriculum that gives students the real-world knowledge and skills needed for a long-term career in the lodging industry.
S.T.A.R.T. provides training for hospitality positions in the rooms and food and beverage divisions of a lodging operation, including front desk, reservations, housekeeping, bell services, restaurant service, banquet setup and service, and more. Guest service, professionalism, and career exploration are other important components of this program, which is designed specifically for workforce development.
Students in the S.T.A.R.T. program get on track to begin a career in lodging by preparing for an entry level job that offers stability, portability, mobility, and the potential for growth and promotion. Although a high school diploma or GED is recommended, neither are required. Upon program completion a CSI Certificate is issued.
