About CELT

The Center for Excellence in Learning Technology (CELT) is an instructional center that provides state-of-the-art equipment, software, and support for faculty at CSI. It is the mission of CELT to make technology accessible to Faculty for easy, effective integration into their classes.

CELT promotes and suppports technology to faciltate and enhance communication and coursework across all interested CSI academic departments. Additionally, CELT assists faculty in their efforts to author multimedia programming for classroom instruction explore multimedia programs for possible inclusion in classroom instruction, develop strategies for the use of technology as a strong component of classroom instruction or supplement instruction to support students in or beyond class-time contact.

Originally founded by a group of faculty as a peer-to-peer mentoring enviroment, the center is currently equipped with 3 personal computers, document, image and slide-scanning equipment, laser color and b&w printers, access to the Internet/Web, and houses a variety of instructional, statistical and web authoring tools. In CELT, faculty can learn to develop and design websites, online courses, classroom materials, powerpoint presentations, and other multimedia materials.

The CELT Lab, located prominently on the first floor of the Library in 1L-109A , is staffed with Technicians and Assistants that can provide you with training all times the center is open and faculty are welcome to walk-in and utilize any of the available equipment on a first-come-first-serve basis. In addition, individual assistance is also available for faculty by appointment, as well as, workshops and seminars on integrating technology into their teaching by contacting the CELT Coordinator.
