The Library Catalog’s Gone Mobile!

The Office of Library Services has just released a new feature for the CUNY Catalog that allows library users to send title, call number and title location directly to their mobile phones. No more scribbling call numbers on pieces of paper…

Patrons must simply find a title, and open the holdings screen by clicking on  “Staten Island’ link on the right side of the screen. On the holdings screen next to “Request a Copy” button there is now “Send info via Text” button.  When clicked, it opens a table to enter phone number and a name of a cellular carrier that can be selected from the drop down menu. Almost immediately, you will receive a text message with the title, location, and call number of the selected item.

Message example:

Msg; Accounting principles, introduction to accounting II- ACC 121.
Staten Island
Textbook Reserve
HF 5635.W524 2011 v.2

Librarians are very happy that this feature is now available and we hope that it will make the information stored in our catalog more  easy to use and more accessible to patrons.
