PORTRAITS OF LEADERSHIP: A CURATOR TALK

Join us for a talk by Jeannine Otis, the curator of the Staten Island Museum traveling exhibition Portraits of Leadership: African American Entrepreneurs of Staten Island. This exhibit is currently on display in the CSI Library. Ms. Otis will discuss her concept for the exhibition, the challenges she faced in putting it together, and other stories behind the exhibit.

Portraits of Leadership highlights Staten Island’s African-American com-munity by looking at representative entrepreneurs. Curated by Jeannine Otis with photographer Willie Chu, guest historian Cynthia Copeland, and folk-lorist Chris Mulé, the multi-media exhibition combines text, image, and video.

The awards ceremony honoring the winners of the As I See It photography contest. Winning photographs will be on display in the Library Gallery, and the photographers will be on hand to discuss the unique nature of Staten Island and their own artistic processes.
