The CSI Library is celebrating Black History Month with a traveling exhibition and program from the Staten Island Museum featuring Staten Island entrepreneurs. The exhibition, entitled Portraits of Leadership: African-American Entrepreneurs of Staten Island, highlights Staten Island’s African-American community by looking at representative entrepreneurs. Curated by Jeannine Otis with photographer Willie Chu, guest historian Cynthia Copeland, and folklorist Chris Mulé, the multimedia exhibition combines text, image, and video. On February 16, 2012 at 1:30 PM, Jeannine Otis will be giving a talk on the exhibition. Ms. Otis will discuss her concept for the exhibition, the challenges she faced in putting it together, and other stories behind the exhibit. The exhibition, located in the Library Gallery Space in the Volpe Rotunda, will run through February 27, 2012.
