Undergraduate Curriculum Committee Assessment Subcommittee Motion of April 5, 2013
The
Undergraduate Curriculum Committee (UCC) supervises and oversees
all assessment of undergraduate courses and programs at the College
of Staten Island per the Governance Plan (Section 2(d)(2)(B)). The
UCC establishes a permanent Assessment Subcommittee to implement
assessment policy set by the UCC with the purpose of ensuring that
academic programs engage in regular, periodic learning outcomes
assessment of undergraduate offerings and report to the UCC. Among
the responsibilities of the UCC Assessment Subcommittee will be
to submit reports to accreditation committees regarding assessment
of undergraduate-level courses and programs. A representative of
the UCC Assessment Subcommittee will serve on the College-wide Academic
Outcomes Assessment Committee (AOAC).

Responsibilities
The Undergraduate Curriculum Committee Assessment Subcommittee (UCCAS)
is responsible for:
- Meeting
on a regular, ongoing basis (at least once/semester) to review
assessment in the undergraduate curricular process;
- Advocating
for serious assessment at both the course and program level in
the undergraduate curricular process;
- Making
recommendations to the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee (UCC)
regarding assessment in the undergraduate curriculum process;
- Gathering
and providing information about assessment related actions and
policies in the undergraduate curricular process.
Accountability
The UCCAS is accountable to the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee.
Any policies recommended by the UCCAS must be voted on and approved
by the UCC before implementation.
Membership
Membership in the UCCAS is based on election from among the membership
of the UCC. There will be five members of the committee, with no
fewer than one from each academic division or school. One member
of the subcommittee will also serve on the College-Wide Academic
Outcomes Assessment Committee (AOAC), as a liaison between the AOAC
and the UCCAS, and as a representative of the UCC on the AOAC. The UCCAS shall have a chair or co-chairs, elected by the subcommittee.
Term
of Service
Members of the UCCAS serve for a period concurrent with their term
on the UCC. Periodic elections to replace members who rotate off
the committee will be held in the UCC.
Meeting
Schedule
The committee will meet at least once per semester, but may also
meet more often as needed and agreed-upon by the majority of members
of the subcommittee.

General Education Assessment Committee Motion of March 4, 2013
The
General Education Committee (GEC) supervises and oversees all assessment
of general education at the College of Staten Island per the Governance
Plan (Section 2(d)(2)(A)). The GEC establishes a permanent Assessment
Subcommittee of the GEC to implement assessment policy set by the
GEC with with the purpose of ensuring academic programs engage in
regular, periodic learning outcomes assessment of their general
education offerings and report to the GEC. Among the responsibilities
of the General Education Committee will be to submit reports to
the Middle States Follow-Up Committee regarding assessment of general
education courses and programs.

of graduate offerings and report to the GSC. Among the responsibilities
of the Graduate Studies Committee will be to submit reports to accreditation
committees regarding assessment of graduate-level courses and programs.
A representative of the GSC Assessment Subcommittee will serve on
the College-wide Academic Outcomes Assessment Committee.
