"The works of Shakespeare may be more durable. They may loom large in the imagination of posterity, but among beautiful and useful things made by men this side of genius, working together with materials long nursed in the bowels of the earth, fashioned and hung together, these gigantic, suspended rainbow arches of steel and stone are surely evidence of Divine inspiration."
Robert Moses, November 21, 1964, Dedication Ceremony

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, the Archives and Special Collections at the College Staten Island mounted a physical version of this exhibition in fall 2004. The exhibit was the first in the Archives’ new exhibition and programming space.
