Internships at the LIBRARY The College of Staten Island Library/CUNY invites internship applications from library school students interested in pursuing a career in academic libraries. The internship appointment is for a one-semester term. Qualified applicants must: 1. Be currently enrolled in an ALA accredited library and information sciences graduate program. 2. Have a minimum of 12 or more credits. 3. Commit to a one-semester contract appointment in the Library. These internships are intended to provide experience to students interested in exploring a career in academic libraries, as well as provide networking opportunities. Students will have the opportunity to work closely with professional librarians. They will gain valuable practical experience, as well as strong information management skills at the end of the internship. The successful candidate(s) will assume a variety of assignments appropriate for an internship appointment. Interns will assist staff with special projects in Cataloging (preparing materials for classification or de-selection); Access Services (assisting with web page development and maintenance); Collection Development (collection analysis and development); Library Instruction Services (preparing finding aids and bibliographic material), and/or in the Archives and Special Collections (assisting in the processing of archival and special collections). Requirements: Ability to demonstrate initiative. Effective interpersonal relations and communications skills. Adaptable. Well-organized. Experience with Windows environment and HTML preferred.
